Meet The Face Behind Destined Dreams

I’m Tamara Grant, proud owner of Destined Dreams.

I look forward to sharing my story. I hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.

I started Destined Dreams during a crossroads in my career. Work life for me began straight out of college where I first studied Broadcast Journalism. I worked in corporate Canada as a project manager and assistant manager for a large medical company. After ten years, I decided to take a huge leap, follow my dreams and start my own home staging business. I started with a free information night on a Friday and was enrolled in my first staging program on Monday.

I’m now in my third year of business and all things considered, I believe the company has progressed faster than I could have imagined. Everything has been upgraded as I’m continuously learning and studying the business, getting the right training and qualifications. I’ve also relocated, our inventory selection has improved, and our efficiency is much better too. My business philosophy is – keep it simple, stay organized, stay ahead of the curve and work as a team.

What sets us apart from the others is that we genuinely value respect, communication, honesty, positivity, teamwork and of course fun! I think the most enjoyable part of it all is talking to people. I graduated with highest honors in Client Relations from Sheridan College, and what I’ve realized is that interpersonal skills are indeed the backbone of my business. You have to be a people person and be able to communicate clearly when working with a client. The success we’ve gained is because we’ve been networking with others, emerging in the community, putting in the work and going above and beyond in delivery.

On a personal note, I feel like with having my own business, I can work around my life and not have my life revolve around my work. With a small child at home, this has been the most important thing to me.

When I am not at work, I like to cook and try delicious foods. I enjoy listening to good music and online shopping. My guilty pleasure is reality TV. I also love to spend time with my son either going to the park, the library or the movies. I enjoy chatting with my four sisters as they have me laughing endlessly.

I’m also passionate about giving back to the community. I feel strongly about people living below poverty line who just need basic life necessities. My company has been an advocate of donating necessities to women living in transitional housing at the YWCA. In addition, we participate in serving Thanksgiving dinner to the homeless with Mission Services as well as help build homes with Habitat for Humanity. I’ve also started to get involved in environmental initiatives. And that’s not the end of it; I have many goals that I’m working towards in giving back to our society.

I have enjoyed sharing my story about the things which matter to me and how they influence the way I do business.
