Does a house sell better when it's empty or staged?

Empty houses do take longer to sell on the market, in comparison to an occupied or staged home. There was a study conducted by the Appraisal Institute and their findings were that the homes that were empty sold for 6% less and stayed on market longer than an occupied home.
